We love the snow and were so excited when it started falling on Friday afternoon!!! I thought with our move to North Carolina we would maybe see snow once or twice and maybe have to wait till January for it. We got a great Christmas surprise when it started snowing early in December!!! It was the big flakes that are so pretty to grab a few photos so of course we got outside right away to play in it. We got a few inches on the ground and ended up sledding Friday night and having several snow ball fights. Saturday was filled with more hours of snow fun. The sun came out Sunday and today’s high is supposed to reach 50 so most of it is gone or melting away today. It sure put us all in the Christmas spirit and it was just the right amount of snow to enjoy it. I think we are going to like living here in the winters – it is the right amount of cold with sunshine and snow! Hope you are enjoying the holidays!
The North Carolina mountains have so many awesome places for hikes and are full of Christmas tree farms that I was first feeling overwhelmed with planning our outdoor Black Friday outing. Thank goodness for internet reviews, recommendations and a very nice neighbor we decided on visiting the Linville area. We started off with a hike to the Linville Falls – great easy hikes for people of any age and spectacular views!!! The weather was sunny and almost a little bit warm for a late fall day.
After our hike we headed to Linville Falls Winery to try the wine and get our Christmas tree. Right now they have their Red Barn Tree Farm open and it’s worth a visit! They had gorgeous trees in the hill side, treats for the kids and wine for me!!! They cut it for you, wrap it and will even help tie it to your vehicle. The staff was so friendly and I just couldn’t get over the smells of evergreen trees and the mountain views! I also loved watching the boys measure the trees and discussing which one we should take home. It was a wonderful new tradition we started here in North Carolina.
Let’s just say this kid takes life by the horns. He is always the first one up and the first one to be full of life in our house. He loves making lego creations, playing nerf wars with his brother and beating us in any game. He would eat a salad over steak any day and can give the biggest of hugs. We enjoyed doing all things Mr. P wanted to do on his special birthday.
My favorite photo shoots each year are for my kids birthdays. The fall color was beautiful in the Lake Norman State Park so I got birthday boy dressed and off we went with our golden #6 to capture those birthday photos. I am already looking forward to my spring birthday photos in the Lake Norman area – there are so many new places for me to shoot at. No lack of personality for this guy when the camera is pointed his way! Happy 6th birthday buddy!
